Have you ever said to yourself, “I bet I can fix that?” then it turns out you did something horribly wrong? When you are considering whether you can fix electrical outlets, wiring or install a new fuse box for your house, think again. You need an electrician. Doing a job wrong and then having to fix it later can cost you more money than if you hired someone to do it right the first time. When dealing with something that can kill you, like electricity, don’t you think you should hire someone who knows what they’re doing? When installing the simplest electrical component, a light bulb, people still make mistakes. Most incandescent light bases are intended for 60 watt light bulbs which it will state the rating on the base. Typically if you put over a 100 watt light bulb in the base then it will overheat and possibly cause a fire. Don’t cause a fire.

To make wire connections, never under any circumstance, just wrap the wires around each other to make a connection. This is just inviting an electrical fire into your home. Any wiring you use must be rated for the connections you are making. If you are installing a new outlet to your circuit breaker and the wire is only rated for 15 amps but your breaker or fuse is rated for 20 amps you are going to have problems. If the numbers do not match then do not use them, period.
